Some of the people in mewithoutYou got really pissed off (Mike was pretty vocal in the podcast, as well as Chris Klienberg’s wife Nikki who apparently went into rage mode and tried to beat the shit out of Tommy the tour manager, and ended up pouring a cup of her piss on him). Although the guys in Anberlin weren’t really part of the planning or implementation of the prank, one of the guys did help the tour manager pull off the prank through an open bus window. He ended up coming up with an idea to fill mewithoutYou’s bus with live crickets, feeder mice, and dead fish. mewithoutYou didn’t really have all that much planned but Tooth and Nail’s stand-in tour manager tried to get Anberlin together to play a counter-prank on mewithoutYou.
Apparently at the end of the tour (Circa 2004, maybe it’s still customary.?), it’s a thing where the supporting bands play a prank on the headliners.
Further Seems Forever had a fight 2 days prior to the first show and dropped off the tour, and Anberlin became the headliners, which is something they didn’t have any experience with yet at this point in their career.
In 2004 Watashi Wa, Emery, mewithoutYou, and Anberlin were supporting acts to Further Seems Forever in the first ever Tooth and Nail tour.
